We have been staying in the wonderful Barcelo Hotel. We had our luggage out by our room doors by 8:00 and ready to board the bus by 9:00. Breakfast in this place was fabulous, we carried what we wanted for the day in bags and our luggage was stored under the bus for the day. Our first stop was the archaeological zone of Kaminaljuyu, a place considered by many to be settled by Nephi 600 BC (2 Nephi 5:5-10).
Then we bused to Antigua, the old Spanish Capital of Guatemala. Several Building date back to the 16th and 17th century. We visited a Jade Factory, the tour guide was hilarious, he kept putting Mormon jokes in. I bought my most expensive ever jewelry. Introduction to Antigua.

When we left the Jade factory and the museum, I was walking down the street by myself! My new friends Dave and Sandi Evans saw me by myself and they turned around and said, "we are not going to let you walk by your self!" They were so sweet and patient with me! We were trying to make it to the city square, we never did find it.
The street we walked on, all the windows have railing on them. It was all so colorful and the people were trying to sell us something.
So many of the women were wearing native dress. I bought a cloth that looks like this, hand embroidered and very colorful, not here, a little bit later. There a Dave and Sandi photo bombing.

some cute little necklaces there.
After Antigua we were supposed to visit a school, but it was out for the day. We met this woman who has a foundation to get money to educate children. The children in Guatemala have to pay for their education. She will help children get into school, but the parents have to help with finances also.
We met her at the LDS church, (wonderful restrooms, by the way). She had these two little girls with her. I wanted to bring them home. We had brought school supplies, these girls got to choose from all the stuff. It was better than Christmas for them. They were so sweet and loving.
We stopped along the way and for dinner. This lady is making corn tortillas for us, in a little road side resturant.

We ended up at a nice little hotel on the Shore of Atetlan.
Little did I know what adventures lay ahead of us.
This is the purposed place of the "Waters of Mormon".
