Glenn continues to feel good since the last time I posted. He has no pains, no grabs, no pinches. All of which he was feeling before the first chemo treatment on December 19th, at which time he was in a great deal of pain. So he is responding well to the treatment. The last visit that we had with his oncologist, Dr. Julie Smith on the 12th of January, she was "amazed and thrilled" at his progress. She said that "no pain and the marker being down to 5.4 were wonderful signs that the treatments were working". At that time we made an appointment with a general surgeon, Dr Hess, to put a port-a-cath back in his chest so that they can administer the chemo through the port into an artery.
The veins in his arms can not take that many treatments. The last treatment he had, the needle got out of the vein while the nurse was injecting the drug and they feared that some of that strong chemo was under his skin instead of in the blood stream. It was a very tense time for everyone involved. Thank heavens his skin isn't damaged and he won't have to go through that again.
He is feeling fine and his digestive system is actually working better that it was a year ago when he had "no evidence of disease". He is working hard to put the weight on that he lost when all of this erupted. He lost a total of 15 pounds from Thanksgiving until it a couple of weeks ago. His next CT scan will be in 4 or 5 weeks and we will be able to see what is going on inside. Our feelings are that the scan results will be "amazing" as his priesthood blessing indicated. I will make another post as soon as we get the results of that scan. No matter what the results are, he will have at least 4 more treatments after that.
