What does a 65 year old man--who just retired and is going through cancer threatment--do?

  • Church work: These are the men that Glenn works with in the Stake Presidency. This picture was taken last year, Glenn looks chubby! (LOL)
  • This week has been the best of times and the worst of times. Best Because all chemo was suspended Yippee! Worst, because it was suspended because of his mouth sores and low white blood count. The mouth sores have been pretty bad! He is enduring it well, we have tried EVERYTHING! He has enjoyed not carrying the chemo pack around! He hated the pain from the Neulasta.
  • Taxes! He is loving doing his tax practice. He has at least one person call a day, so he has plenty of time to get that one done. The most fun of all that is that several of our friends have just stayed and visited. It has been fun to have them in our home, to share, to laugh and to just relax and enjoy our friendship. He has looked forward to doing his practice in his retirement.
  • Visit with dear friends. Last night a friend from work came with her daughter, to bring taxes. We have known our friend Betsy since we moved here in 1976. She was engaged at the time and now her family is raised and they have families! While we were in Seattle for treatment, her husband had shoulder surgery, so we were able to visit them in the hospital there. Glenn and Betsy worked together at Wood and Blessing. Then when an opening came at the PUD Glenn encouraged her to apply. We have been great friends through the years. It was fun to see her and to catch up with what is going on in their lives.
  • Walks with me and/or Baylee, at least two times a week.
  • Keeps on on Fox News.
  • Stays up to date on BYU Sports.
  • Watches a movie with the family every once in a while!
  • Eats or drinks about every hour of the day if we remember.
  • Has nice quiet chats as we relax in the living room.
  • Reads.
  • Run errands.
  • Goes to Dr. appointments,
  • Keep up with our children and grandchildren.
  • Listens to my music.
  • Prays and Prays that all will be well.
  • Helps in the kitchen.
  • Rests and relaxes as he is recovering!
This sounds like a lot, but he is really ready to take some trips to see the kids. We will be glad when we are free to take off! Just do what retired people do, not sick retired people!
