Hip Hip Hooray

Glenn had the next to last treatment today. We met with Dr Koe and Dr. Bautu. They were so complimentary about how well Glenn has done. Dr. Bautu said, "you have to come back and see us when you come to town, we have bonded with you"! Dr Koe was reluctant to have this be the last time he sees Glenn also. He thinks Glenn should be featured on the SCCA web site for how well he has done. He said, "Please tell me you hurt some where". He doesn't want Glenn to suffer, but he thinks it would be strange if he didn't have any side effects.

Glenn has had side effects:

• Nausea
• Tired
• Gets chills
• His stomach has a burn when he eats
• Some redness on his belly and back
• Blotches on his face!
• I am happy to report that he still has his hair!!!!!!!!!!
• As great as this report is, Glenn's stomach was rebelling today and he has taken two naps. We have found that is the best way to deal with nausea and pain! The heal clicking was done after two naps! :)

We did tell Dr. Koe that we feel that one of the reasons Glenn has done so well is because of faith and the prayers of thousands of people. He agreed, that is a big factor, he said people of faith tend to do much better.

There are four esophageal cancer patients finishing treatment and they told Glenn that he is doing by far the best. Dr Koe said that he is in the top 10% of all the patients he has had as far as the least side effects and the degree of tolerance!

Glenn's surgery is scheduled for the 8th of January. The normal stay in the hospital is 8 to 10 days. Dr Koe thinks that Glenn will beat the odds on that too! Let's hope and pray for that, as I am expecting a new little grandson on January 18th that I would love to be in Utah to greet!

We have had wonderful support as we have gone through these past 6 weeks. We are thankful for all the prayers, faith, phone calls, cards and friendship, we have received.

These are some cards we got, along with "survival" gifts for our stay here. We received the flowers today from 10th Ward. We have a mantel full of cards. We also appreciate all the comments posted on the blog as well as your email. Thank you so much! Here's to a safe drive home tomorrow!
