Change and Church Leadership

January 27, 2008 was historic day for our Church, our Stake, our Ward and our family. President Hinckley passed away and our Stake Presidency was reorganized. At the end of the day the youth in our ward were saying, "I lost my prophet, my stake president and my bishop, all in one day!!!!!


The wonder of our church is that there is never a vacuum. That same day a new stake presidency was sustained, Reid Baker was called as our new Stake President, Mark Poth is the 1st Councilor, and Glenn was called to be the 2nd councilor. At that time, Glenn was serving as the Bishop of our ward.



A few weeks later, a new Bishop was called. Preston Wilks was called to be the new bishop. A new prophetwas sustained in April. They are all wonderful men whom the Lord had prepared for their new callings.

So while we honor President Hinckley, President Hunsaker and Bishop Perrins, the mantel has been passed on to President Monson, President Baker and Bishop Wilks with hardly a ripple. Our youth have a great Prophet, a wonderful Stake President, and a loving, caring Bishop.

I love how "We believe that men are called of God by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority to preach the gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof." We do not seek callings or turn them down. We never feel adequate to our callings, but we know that "whom the Lord calls, the Lord qualifies".

A year ago our life changed, but many things are still the same, in that Glenn is busy in the service of the Lord. It has been a wonderful blessing for Glenn to serve with President Baker and President Poth, as he also serves the members of our stake. Our families are blessed for their selfless service.
