Book of Mormon Tour Day 7 Huehuetenango

This was a very interesting day for me!  We visited a place that had pure water, Almolonga, a place that could possibly be where Alma went after they left the waters of Mormon.  This is just going into the most wonderful market I have ever been too.  (Check out the wires over head).

A place to stop and get a few supplies.
These trucks come so close to the people,
I get a anxiety attack, just thinking about it!
 Really close!
I couldn't take enough pictures of these colorful veggies.
It didn't seem to bother Kathy Jaderholm.
 Celantro!

The head band helps carry the burden on the back.
This area has such lush produce! Huge carrots.

We tried to get him to smile, but this is all we got!
 Each bag weighed 100 pounds!
And these people are little!
We are giants compared to them.
I don't know how they carry their burdens on their heads.

 It was so crowded!

This was a small resort, for the local people.

 Pure water.
 Spa!
It felt so good to relax for a minute.
 Wells!
 Looking up!
The tubs in the guest rooms.  I still prefer luxury hotels.
 To the market we go!
I tried so hard to get a picture of the
farmers in the fields.  There is a farmer
just behind the tree.
The farmers work with hand tools and plant on any
patch of bare ground.  They don't need to irrigate
and they can get two to three crops of one plot a year.
 Roadside market.

A brand new beautiful LDS church
way up in the highlands, beautiful
people too!  Doug was so excited he
could hardly stand it!

Looking out to the Narrow Strip of Wilderness,
the narrow pass in the highland to the North.

Some people in our group brought toys for
kids.  When we stopped at this church, there
was a group of women and children waiting
for a sister to return for a mission.  This was
Christmas to the kids.

This is a custodian who takes care of many churches.
See how shorts.  That is grass clippings on his head,
He has a lot of stairs to climb to get to the top!
This was the last of the ruins before we crossed to the North.
Zaculeu, Myan 3400 years old.  The last
ancient city before the narrow strip of wilderness

 Village of Huehuetenango.
This hotel and the food were the worst of the
whole trip.  No one wanted to be in their rooms.
Everyone in the lobby was hooked up to some
device.  It looked so funny!
