Now to my part of the story...let me just say that I don't like to drive in the dark and I really don't like to drive in the snow. As we pulled into the parking lot at the Wenatchee Valley Clinic it had just started to snow very lightly. I told Glenn as we entered the clinic that if it was dark and the roads were bad, we would have to spend the night in Wenatchee. Who did I think I was talking to if I thought that was going to fly? He protested big time because he wanted to be home...I don't blame him, we all want the comfort of home after surgery.
When he came out of surgery it was dark! (of course) When I went to get the car to pick him up, our car was covered with 1 1/4 inch of snow!!! I was slipping and sliding just to get to him. But I know that our prayers were already being answered because instead of being too nervous to drive, I was calm and confident about the drive home. Wenatchee had not plowed the roads so it was a slippery drive just to get through town.
The highway between Wenatchee to Quincy was covered with the new snow, it was slushy and slick! Our car has an anti skid censor which helps the car straighten out when it fishtails. There is a big hill just after the dam and the car did several fishtails going up that, it was impossible to accelerate. But the hill between crescent bar and the rest area was something else. I never realized how long that hill was. I was only able to drive 20 miles per hour and every time I tried to go faster I would fishtail. So we just fishtailed all the way up that hill...picture me remaining calm!
I was so looking forward to getting on the freeway, because the "freeway is alway bare". Well, the freeway wasn't bare, so we literally had snowy roads all the way home. Instead of the regular 1 hour and 20 minute drive, it took two hours! But we were both glad that we had come home instead of spending the night in Wenatchee.
I know that the Lord knows who we are and what we need. We wanted his surgery to be earlier in the day so that I didn't have to drive home in the dark. But it was a blessing to have it later, although I did have to drive home in the dark, it wasn't snowing and there was a lot less traffic than there would have been if we had come home in the daylight. I literally felt the calming influence of the Holy Ghost since I normally would have been too afraid to drive under those conditions. Glenn was very patient with me going so slow and he was my extra set of eyes to help me with my night time depth perception problem. So between the two of us and the angels we made it home safe and sound. Making it a practically perfect day!

So glad that things are looking good! Hope he can gain some of that weight he lost. Glad you made it home from Wenatchee OK. I've traveled that road in bad weather and it can be very scary fishtailing up that hill!! Were you really calm?? I'm impressed. You're always in our prayers. With love, L&V
When did you make these posts? I didn't see them until this morning! Chase sighed a big sigh when he saw the picture of Grandpa. He was happy Grandpa still has his eyebrows ;)
I am glad you are recording all of these experiences. Your posterity will be so blessed to see your faith in all aspects of this trial, from stinky cancer to drives home in the dark and snow!
Love you, Mom and Dad
These faith promoting experiences will bless your posterity FOREVER. Recently we drove to the Columbia River Temple in the worst storm and 20 cars were off the road. By the time we got there I had a cold sore, big time. I kept thinking that I had to drive home by myself since Richard was flying to Europe. But prayers were answered and I drove home on dry roads the next day. Lots of people are praying for you!
