The last report was just a little while ago and things changed so quickly. Glenn started having more aches and pains in his abdomen during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Then we headed to Hawaii and he felt good only about half the time. He did get to do the things he wanted to do the most: BYU vs Hawaii (we won!), Two 18 hole games of golf on the beautiful Mid Pacific Country Club golf course, Pearl Harbor, Polynesian Cultural Center, LDS Temple and church on Sunday. He didn't get much beach time, but that was my priority and I could never ever get enough of that! He promised to take me back when he feels better.
When we came home from Hawaii we spent lots of time in tests. His abdomen was filling with fluid caused by cancer cells, Tuesday the 13th he had 3 liters of fluid drained and another 1 & 1/2 liters drained Thursday the 15th. That Thursday were given the results of a biopsy which revealed cancer cells in his stomach and cancer cells out side the lining of his intestines which was causing the fluid. That cancer outside his intestines is causing havoc, pain, pressure and misery.
We drove to Utah on the 16th, attended the baptism of Chase Glenn Peterson, who Glenn was able to confirm and then we drove home on Sunday. While we were in Utah, we were with the 4 of our children who live in Utah and their families, plus Clark. We had such a great day!!!! Then we drove home Sunday the 18th so Glenn could start Chemo the next morning.
On the prior Sunday, December 10th Glenn was pretty sick, even though we didn't know what was the matter, he asked President Baker for a priesthood blessing. It was a wonderful blessing of healing. His diagnosis on the following Thursday left us confused (why a blessing of healing and such a dismal diagnosis?). We had a very melancholy trip down to Logan. The following morning (Saturday the 17th) Glenn had "a long talk with the Lord". He told Him how many things we still wanted to do as a couple, among other things. I asked Glenn what the Lord told him. Glenn said that the words of the blessing came into his mind.
As a family we have decided to put our faith in that priesthood blessing, oh contrare' to scientific evidence, and how horrible he feels with the chemo treatments that he started on Monday. Our family fasted for all of us to be able to maintain that faith and for Glenn to get well. We are praying mightily for that healing to take place.
The good news is that we think the chemo is working already and that is a good sign! But it is not easy for Glenn to go through this. The Doctor calls this chemo the "big guns--strong weapons for a strong enemy". He has been sick since Tuesday.
We invite you to join your faith with the faith of our family that he will be able to tolerate this chemotherapy and that he will get well. "That he will be able to continue serving and sharing his wonderful faith, wonderful smile and wonderful friendliness with all he comes in contact with". (These words are paraphrased from his priesthood blessing). We feel so much support from so many people who are praying for him.

What a wonderful time of year to turn our thoughts to Christ and all that He has blessed us with: The Restored Gospel, the Priesthood Power, Living Prophets, The Gift of the Holy Ghost, The Sealing of our Family for time and all eternity...and much much more!

My dear sweet Kathy...my heart aches for you as I read your latest posting. It has been a "yo-yo" trip to say the least and yet through it all you both have displayed remarkable and beautiful faith, trust, hope, endurance. So much has and will continue to come out of this experience, not only for your family but for all of us who love you and are living this time with you.
