While the day is still early, I wanted to post an update because so many good things keep happening. Yesterday, Glenn was still pretty groggy and while he was awake most of the time, he wasn't too interactive. He has a naso-gastric tube (NG Tube) in his nose and throat down to his improved stomach that keeps him pretty quiet. This tube is there clean out the stomach so fluids don't accumulate and vomiting doesn't occur. With this surgery, the stomach shuts down and during the next few days it will reboot; vomiting would not be good for the sutures holding everything together on the inside.
So Glenn was somewhat active last night, but then Seth rigged up the Slingbox (TV over the Internet) and Glenn was able to watch the BYU basketball game. It was a great game and of course it was made better when the cougs pulled it out in the end. By the end of the game, Glenn was completely awake, very active (a relative word) and cheering very quietly and mostly with hand gestures. We were very glad to have the BYU game brighten the end of this day. John Redford also came to visit during the first half of the game and Glenn and I both enjoyed that. Here he is watching the game, don't be alarmed by any of the tubes. All is normal.
His progress Wednesday evening led right into Thursday morning when the Doctors said he would need to get up and walk. Glenn had sat up a time or two and it wasn't too bad, but getting up would wear him out. Actually the pain from getting up and the movement of his insides would wear him out. The PT nurse that helped him, taught him how to roll over and get up in a log roll and this single thing made getting up so easy and he was able to get out of bed with little exertion or pain. Because of this, he was very eager and able to walk. He had originally dreaded the thought of walking, but once up, he felt great and instead of one small lap, he asked to keep going and he took 2 laps. This was good for him and it wore him out...so now he is asleep.

You are both so strong! Glenn is an inspiration! He has such an amazing attitude...One reason why I am sure he is doing so well! The faith that both of you have shown has been a blessing to me and I am sure many more! Thank you for being wonderful examples! You have been and will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers!
